These presentations met the N121 objectives and provided a much needed community service learning project. The two schools utilized were Unioto and Allensville Elementary. NEWS AROUND THE CAMPUS Summer Hours The administrative offices will observe the official university summer hours as follows: * Summer hours, as defined in Policy #40.048, are from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with a one half hour lunch, typically 12:00 noon - 12:30 p.m. * Summer hours will begin on Monday, June 16, 2003, and end at the end of business day September 5, 2003 (the Friday prior the to beginning of fall quarter.) * Please keep in mind that the summer hours are the official university hours; individuals and groups in your units can be accommodated. The important point to remember is that offices will have coverage from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, but that individuals can modify their hours with their supervisors approval. School of Interpersonal Communication (INCO) Changes Name The School of Interpersonal Communication (INCO) is now Communication Studies (COMS), May 2003. The curriculum requirements for majors will change August, 2003. The GPA requirement of 3.0 will remain the same. With many new requirements, students will need to declare their major more quickly than they have in the past. Any help that advisors can give by suggesting 100- or 200-level COMS or foreign language courses as electives for students in Associate degree programs would be much appreciated. New brochures are being printed and will 3 be available this summer. Any questions can be directed to Lisa Wallace, ext. 208. An Open Letter to OUC Faculty and Staff From Jan Schmittauer I attended my first OUC play last quarter called Lend Me a Tenor. I was enthralled. The quality of the acting, directing, audience enthusiasm, and the sheer professionalism of the production left me amazed. I am even more astonished when I think of the countless hours that these dedicated individuals devoted to sharing the joy of theater with the entire community, especially during these times when funding for the arts is being cut dramatically. I wish more faculty and staff had been present. I wish I had been present at every play OUC ever produced. It means so much to the students to see our familiar faces and to know that we support them, laugh with them, and express our intense pride in them. I am ashamed that I missed so many plays and plan to attend every one in the future. Ken Breidenbaugh is to be congratulated for his tireless effort in directing these students with such skill that they love to devote long hours for him in addition to their classes, jobs, and busy lives. These are th...
