Integrating Impatica with PowerPoint Presentations Rationale Educators in Hawaii are being faced with the imperative issue of technology use via distance education courses. Online courses are already popular with a large number of students, but in order to accommodate future need and growth for this type of nontraditional learning, there is a need for educators to provide instruction that is adequate and comparable to what is learned in the traditional classroom setting. With the popularity of online courses, there is a need for educators to provide coursework that will connect and motivate student-learning outcomes. With the increase in educational technology, educators are now facing the overwhelming pressure to supply the students with all the learning tools that may be available. When student motivation comes to mind, many educators use presentation software like Microsoft PowerPoint to deliver lectures that contain visually attractive images and text animations to garner the students attention. However, even with the presentation features of PowerPoint the student does not much of an option to review the information except for in the class lecture. Educators who rely on PowerPoint often face serious issues like the inability to send the PowerPoint presentations through email, consider the students Internet speed, and whether or not the student has the same PowerPoint edition to guarantee that the student receives all the same fonts and animations. The good news is that there is software called Impatica for PowerPoint that not only fixes all the software issues but also allows educators to make a recorded narration of her/his presentation.
This module will provide educators with a tool that they can use to incorporate PowerPoint with the additional features that Impatica will provide to make student accessibility to information a lot easier and convenient. The significance of motivating and engaging student learning is a very important task that all educators face today. Access to the module will be through the Web due to the ability to reach a higher number of educators throughout the State of Hawaii. Due to the fact that educational technology is emerging as an essential key to the future of education, a Web module will allow educators to practice and apply their technology skills.
Goals and Objectives The major goal of this instructional module is to produce lesson plans for educators that integrate Impatica with PowerPoint to assist in enhancing curriculum presentation and delivery. Learning Objectives To provide educators with practical methods of integrating Impatica with PowerPoint to produce visually engaging and easily accessible presentations that enhance student learner outcomes. Audience This module is designed for higher education educators in the University of Hawaii systems that teach distance education undergraduate courses. The learning style of the audience will be very diverse due to the flexibility of a Web based module. The educators will have very hectic work schedules to have time to do extra curricular activities, so this learning tool must be easily accessible and presented in a clear and accommodating fashion. To make sure that the educators receive a user-friendly version, the tool will contain engaging visual effects and step-by-step text.
