583 SPHSC Hearing Aid Selection Lab #3 Topics: REUR, NAL-R 2cc target Part I: Enter the audiogram Suppose your patient has the following audiogram: 500 Hz: 30 dB HL, 1000 Hz: 30 dB HL, 2000 Hz: 40 dB HL, 3000 Hz: 50 dB HL, 4000 Hz: 50 dB HL. - Enter the patient s audiogram in the real ear system (you may want to refer to the instructions in last week s practice assignment on entering audiograms). Part II: Measure the REUR On the FP40: On the Verifit: Part III FP40: Use the audiogram you entered and the REUR you just measured to obtain a customized 2cc coupler target. Extra practice: repeat this exercise and include a custom (measured) RECD (see Lab 2). Use the same procedure as you did last week for the REIG target, but this time use the F7 (coupler) key to convert to a 2cc coupler target. That is: Use F4 to enter the target screen. From this screen, select the prescriptive procedure (F3). Make sure HTL is highlighted. Enter the patient s audiogram. Generate the target. Then push coupler to access the Target Coupler screen. Once in target the screen, press menu to change the following: correction factors for aid type (this is the aid-mic effect for ITE, ITC, BTE); custom or average REUR ( unaided ear ); custom or average RECD ( aided ear 2cc ). For this exercise, use the custom REUR you just measured. You can also select the amount of reserve gain (i.e., difference between use and full-on gain). Then press Menu again to return to the target 2cc screen. The figure on the following page shows the 2cc screen. Part III: Verifit: Go to: Test Selection and click on Speech Map Use the audiogram you entered and the REUR you just measured to obtain a customized 2cc coupler target. Extra practice: repeat this exercise and include a custom (measured) RECD (see Lab 2). Before you leave be sure you know how to: Calculate an REIG target based on your patient s audiogram Calculate a 2cc FOG target with either the average REUR/RECD, or an individually measured REUR/RECD Understand the difference between a REIG target and a 2cc FOG target
