A calculator is permitted on each exam. Formula sheet provided for tests. Quizzes: Four one-hour quizzes are given during the course of the semester. A calculator is permitted on each quiz. Formula sheet provided for quizzes. Final Exam: The material for the final exam will be the hypothesis testing and confidence intervals covered in class and some questions from the last chapters. The understanding of the last topics in class will require knowledge of all previous chapters. Formula sheet and tables provided for final. In class Assignments: Each assignment will be worth 10 pts. Partial credit will be given according to completion and accuracy of assignment. These points are extra points that can be used to replace a missed quiz, help with test or quiz grades. These points are the curve for the class, which depends on attendance. Homework: Homework problems for each section covered in lecture are listed on Blackboard. It is the responsibility of the student to keep current. Homework will not be collected, although some problems will appear on quizzes or tests with changed values. Missed Exams: There is no scheduled make-up quiz ore exam. A missed quiz will use the in class assignment points to replace quiz. A missed exam will use the in class assignment points accrued from student to replace exam, unless it is an excused Excused absence. absences are granted for emergencies such as a death in the family or treatment of an injury or illness at a medical facility and can only be granted by the instructor. Documentation is required. Mismanagement of resources is not grounds for an excused absence, such as running out of gas, oversleeping, or computer problems at the last minute. Exam conflicts known in advance must be cleared in writing with the instructor. Surgery, weddings, etc. will be excused if documented as soon as the student is aware of the conflict. It is up to the discretion of the instructor to whether a conflict will constitute an excused absence. The final exam will replace the exam that is missed for the excused absence. Classroom Considerations: The lecture experience will greatly be enhanced if all students will (1) be prepared for the lecture by reading assigned sections in the text, (2) refrain from talking to your neighbor unless instructed to do so, (3) arrive promptly before the start of class, (4) turn off audible cell phone and pager signals, (5) avoid using cell phones or other wireless devices during lecture, (6) avoid reading a newspaper during lecture, and (7) participate; ask questions whenever they occur to you. Email: Please adhere to the following policies when emailing your instructor: 1. Email is to be from the FSU Domain 2. Email will not contain unexpected attachments. 3. A full first and last name will appear clearly within the body of the email. 4. The course number, "STA 2122," and your section number are clearly indicated in the message. Calculator Restrictions: No wireless device or personal digital assistant (PDA) may be used as a calculator during exams. Graphing calculators are permitted. Blackboard: The Blackboard web-based tool will be used in this class. A general site is used to post notes, assignments, announcements, and templates. Blackboard postings should not be used as a substitute for class attendance. Grade calculations are not maintained in Blackboard. Students with Disabilities: Students with disabilities needing academic accommodations should do the following within the first week of class: (1) register with and provide documentation to the Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC), and (2) bring a letter to the instructor from the SCRC indicating that you need academic accommodations. Academic Honor System: The academic honor system is strictly enforced: "The Academic Honor System of The Florida State University is based on the premise that each student has the responsibility to: 1) Uphold the highest standards of academic integrity in the students work, 2) Refuse to tolerate violations of academic integrity in the academic community, and 3) Foster a high sense of integrity and social responsibility on the part of University community."
