Objetivos Los objetivos principales de este curso son profundizar en el conocimiento de la gramtica espaola y perfeccionar la capacidad de redaccin y comunicacin eficaz en espaol. Ello implica no slo escribir textos gramatical y sintcticamente correctos, sino tambin producir ensayos organizando de forma lgica las ideas, y utilizando los prrafos y la puntuacin de forma apropiada. Otros objetivos son perfeccionar la capacidad de lectura, habla y comprensin oral en espaol, familiarizar al estudiante con aspectos de la historia y las culturas de las comunidades de habla hispana diseminadas por el mundo, y desarrollar la capacidad de anlisis crtico. Lecturas, foros, y tareas nos darn la oportunidad de reflexionar crticamente y debatir sobre algunos de los mitos y estereotipos ms extendidos y recurrentes (dentro y fuera de los Estados Unidos) acerca de los hispanos y lo hispano. Cada semana intentaremos dedicar parte del tiempo para aclarar dudas relacionadas con el curso, prestando la mxima atencin en aquellos aspectos que requieran ms detenimiento en funcin de las necesidades del conjunto de los alumnos. Si alguien no entiende algo en clase, le animo a visitarme en horas de oficina. Si alguien no entiende casi nada en clase, tal vez no est preparado/a para una clase de este nivel. Si alguien considera que este curso es demasiado complicado o si por cualquier motivo se ve obligado a darse de baja en el curso, le recomiendo que lo haga lo antes posible. Advertencias Este curso supone que el estudiante ya tiene un entendimiento bsico de la gramtica espaola o sea que ya entiende los conceptos bsicos que se estudiaron en 2310 y 2320. Se repasarn usos y conceptos avanzados en la clase pero no se repetir informacin ya cursada. 1 La nica lengua permitida en clase es el espaol. Si insiste en hablar repetidamente en ingls no se le asignarn puntos de asistencia ni de participacin. Si su uso del ingls se vuelve problemtico o sea si frena el ritmo de la clase, si interrumpe a la clase, si molesta a los otros estudiantes, si quita de la calidad del curso, se le pedir dejar la clase. Responsabilidades del estudiante 1. mantener siempre una actitud respetuosa hacia sus compaeros/as y hacia el instructor 2. realizar todas las lecturas y tareas a su debido tiempo 3. asistir preparado/a y participar activamente en clase. Recuerde: si no hace las lecturas y tareas a tiempo, o si no acude a clase, ser muy difcil que logre una buena calificacin en este curso. Ello implica llegar a tiempo y prestar atencin en clase, participar en los foros on-line, as como guardar silencio y respetar los turnos de palabra y opiniones ajenas. Las tareas se anunciarn en clase y a veces sern fotocopias. Tiene que asistir a clase para recibir las copias para completar la tarea. Evaluacin La calificacin final de cada alumno se basar exclusivamente en su rendimiento acadmico, independientemente de situaciones personales. Asegurase de que su tarea cumpla todos los requisitos, y tenga presente que presentacin, ortografa, sintaxis, organizacin, y contenido formarn la mayor parte de la evaluacin. La calificacin final se basar en los siguientes porcentajes: Participacin en los foros: 10% Composiciones: 30% (3 total cada uno vale =10%; 2 versiones cada uno) Tarea escrita: 10% Pruebas: 30% (3 total, cada uno vale 10%) Examen final: 15% Actitud: 5% Por actitud me refiero al comportamiento general dentro y fuera del aula, incluyendo la asistencia a clase, la puntualidad, el respeto al instructor y a los/as compaeros/as, y la frecuencia y calidad de las intervenciones en clase. Despus de 7 ausencias se le asignar una F para todo el curso. Foros y composiciones: Se pondrn foros en la hoja-web de la clase en TRACS. El propsito de estos foros es de estimular conversacin y de practicar la escritura y la expresin en espaol en un contexto cooperativo para los estudiantes. Muchas veces el tema del foro les preparar para la composicin. Se espera que participe en la mayora de los foros. Puede abstener de 2 foros a lo largo del semestre. Participacin en el foro no significa poner 2 palabras, significa participar y contestar en un prrafo de por lo menos 50 palabras en espaol. No tiene por qu limitarse a una participacin en cada foro. Si le interesa el tema, le invito a participar activamente y 2 frecuentemente. Es la responsabilidad del estudiante mirar TRACS frecuentemente y participar en los foros. No se anunciarn los foros nuevos en clase. Recuerde de ser respetuoso de las opiniones de los otros estudiantes. Si sus respuestas son o abusivas insultantes se le excluir de participar en los foros y no tendr nota para ellos. Tendrn 3 composiciones. Cada una vale 10% y hay un borrador. Si por el motivo que sea alguien no puede asistir a alguna clase, es su responsabilidad informarse de cualquier anuncio que se haya hecho, conseguir los apuntes de algn compaero/a, y realizar todas las actividades que se hayan asignado como tarea. No se aceptarn retrasos en la entrega de tarea ni se administrarn exmenes ni pruebas fuera de las fechas previstas para su realizacin. No se harn tareas de recuperacin durante el semestre. Si por algn motivo justificado no toma un examen en el da programado, se aadir ese porcentaje en el examen final (o sea, si no toma una prueba, el examen final valdr lo de la prueba y el examen final). La calificacin final se establecer conforme a los siguientes porcentajes: 100-90% = A 89-80% = B 79-70% = C 69-60% = D 59% o menos = F Lea con atencin la seccin referente a deshonestidad acadmica en el catlogo de Texas State University-San Marcos. Si un estudiante incurre en plagio o utiliza informacin falsa o falsificada, ser penalizado con una nota final de F en este curso y se notificar a la autoridad acadmica competente. Se considera plagio el uso de ideas o palabras de otra persona como propias. Debe citar siempre sus fuentes de referencia y darles a sus autores el crdito debido en la bibliografa de su ensayo.
