Loser Danielle Adv PR Midterm Section III. Part One. Cathedral Kitchen newsletter analysis The target audience for the newsletter is people of the Camden, New Jersey area who have most likely heard of Cathedral Kitchen but have not volunteered their time or money to the project. Also, another audience that is intended all of the supporters of the Cathedral Kitchen. The newsletter is put out to show them that all their money and hard work is actually going towards something good. The newsletter does seem to reach both of these intended audiences. There is ways to donate money and how to get in touch with Cathedral Kitchen if you are not familiar with the program. Also, all of the articles show how well the CK is doing. This is not only motivating to the people who have not yet helped out, but also shows the current supporters how well they are doing. The writing style of the newsletter is very clear and concise. There is no jargon being used, making it easy for all people to read. All of the events in each article are thoroughly explained. For example in the first article about the Camden Stars event the author tells the reader what the event is and who was part of it. The articles are also, of course, very proCathedral Kitchen. There are many pictures used in this newsletter making it very eye-catching and colorful. All of the articles are written in the same font, making the newsletter very streamlined. The titles of the articles are also all in the same font. There are no graphics really being used. The content of the newsletter is all pretty much the same sort of information; it is all about different events and how well Cathedral Kitchen is doing. One of the positive aspects of the newsletter is that there are plenty of pictures. Seeing that many pictures makes the newsletter very eye-catching and would make anyone want to pick Danielle Loser Adv PR Midterm Page 2 up the newsletter and at least browse through it. Also, the newsletter is very easy to breeze quickly through because all of the articles are clearly defined and short and easy to read. The writing is very simple which is good because it is just a snapshot of what Cathedral Kitchen is. The captions of the pictures are also very good. On the one page there is actually no real article just pictures, however, the captions really tell the story. The pictures captions and are more powerful than if there was only an article and one picture. Also, the paper that the newsletter was printed on makes it seem official, because it is not on regular paper it seems as though a lot of time and energy went into the making of the newsletter. Some of the negative aspects of the newsletter to me are some of the graphics used, for example on the second page at the bottom the walk 2008 looks very amateur to me. Also, because the newsletter does not come out that frequently some of the news seems old. A story about Christmas time does not resonate as much in February/March as it would have in November. While I think streamlining is important, I feel that the titles of each article are a bit too simple. I think that a different font or color could be used, by doing it all the same it looks a bit unprofessional to me. I do not have many recommendations for the newsletter. However, I feel that the use of pictures if very important. I also think that while following up on events is very important it is also important to explain upcoming events. Not many people are thinking about Christmas in March. Also, the front page is not as colorful as the pages on the inside, using a more colorful photograph could be helpful. Danielle Loser Adv PR Midterm Page 3 Section III. Part Two. Brief announcement article Cathedral Kitchen Announces New PR Director Danielle Loser With 13 members already on the Board of Directors, Cathedral Kitchen would like to announce its 14th member. We are pleased to announce that Danielle Loser has become the new Director of Public Relations for the Cathedral Kitchen. Under Danielle the CK has hopes of becoming one of the top distributors of food to the poor in the Camden, New Jersey area. Danielle is a recent graduate of Temple University, while there Danielle received her degree in Public Relations. Before attending Temple, Danielle graduated from Hershey High School in Hershey, Pennsylvania in 2005. She has always expressed an interest in helping out those less fortunate than herself. Throughout her high school and college career she has volunteered at many soup kitchens. We are extremely pleased to have Danielle on our staff. We think she will be a wonderful asset in helping with event planning and raising the Cathedral Kitchen to an even higher standard.
