OF EVALUATION GOALS Instructions, Notes, and a Sample Exercise 1. Most units have included in their reports Action Steps for the 2005-06 and the results of their efforts. Note 1.a: In 2005-06 only one goal was in common for the campus plus each planning area had distinctive institutional goals (in other words, the goals for Student Affairs were different than the goals for Academic Affairs). Additionally the planning units set forth individualized goals. YOU are evaluating ONLY the THREE institutional goals assigned in 2005-06. Note 1.b.: Student Affairs developed a common set of action steps and each subunit listed all the action steps, even if they did not address each one. 2. You are evaluating the degree to which the unit was successful in advancing their action steps and achieving their goals. We are using a 1-4 Evaluation System. 3. You are also distilling the evidence and listing (bullet points) those actions that support your evaluation conclusions. This list will become part of a document, 2005-06 Progress Report on Institutional Strategic Goals, which will highlight our universitys accomplishments and indicate where more effort is needed. 4. After you review and evaluate each sub-unit, you are determining whether or not the entire unit (a college, for example, or all of Academic Affairs) made progress on the institutional goal. 5. Since this is the first time the institution has gone through the full circle of strategic planning (goal setting, action steps, KPI, information reporting, evaluation) everyone is still learning both how to do this and what is expected. Under Comments, Additional please add helpful information to assist the units with their definitions, the way they approach planning, the way they report planning, and so forth. Try to find the positive as well as suggest improvements. Sample Evaluation Unit: School of Agriculture Goal: The University shall conduct sustained recruitment operations in a five state area and internationally to meet the enrollment goals established by CPE and the Board of Regents. Action Steps Visit high schools in the region Attend HS FFA banquets Collect prospective student cards Host personal tours Write follow up letters to students who visit our campus. Criteria for Success/KPI Gather data Gather data Gather data Gather data Gather data Results During 2004-05 the faculty accomplished the following: Visited 38 high schools and spoke to 870 students Attended 23 high school Future Farmers of America banquets at H.
