"The export of bottled wines with old excise stamps will be impossible starting April 1, 2006, but the State Duma did not approve the model of new excise stamps so far," Gheorghe Cozub, chairman of the union and director of a wine company that exports most of its production to Russia, stated to BASA. He noted that "the rules of the game are not clear" with two weeks after introduction of new amendments. Russia absorbs more than 85 percent of Moldovan wine exports. The wine exports dropped by 4 percent in January down to 19.18 million dollars due to the uncertainty related to the supplies to Russia. The decline was registered after a consecutive growth in the past years.
