(Interfax) The Central Election and Referendum Commission has decided to hold the elections of a third Majilis, parliament, on December 19, 2004. The presidential administration told Interfax on Monday citing legislation that any Turkmen citizen can be a parliament member if he is 25 years old by the election date and if he has lived at least ten years in the republic. The previous parliamentary polls took place on December 12, 1999 when the turn-up was 2. 22 million or 99.6% of the electorate. 50 single-mandate constituencies had 50 nominees elected to the second parliament of the total 104 candidates among whom 24 were women.
