Overview
PrintWise is the campus-wide network print solution introduced to address laser printing costs and waste at Loyola. The program provides members of the University community with fast, secure, cost-effective, quality laser printing.
Who can use PrintWise?
Students will receive a free $7.00 allocation in their PrintWise account. The allocation is equal to 100 black and white pages at seven cents a page. If an allocation is depleted, printing costs will be deducted from cardholder's Rambler Bucks account. Additional funds can be added to the Rambler Bucks account at various locations across campus and on-line. Visit http://www.luc.edu/sbo for additional information. Faculty who use PrintWise locations for research may request a PrintWise account by completing the on-line form. Requests will be processed within 72 hours. Administrators/Staff should use their office resources for business-related laser printing. Visitors to the University wishing to print via PrintWise can purchase a courtesy card at any Value Transfer Station. Value Transfer Stations are located in: Crown Center, Cudahy Library, Science Library, Centennial Forum and 25 E. Pearson. Courtesy Cards can be used to pay for laser printing and also to make purchases on campus from any location that accepts Rambler Bucks. Photo copying in the Libraries requires a separate card available in the Libraries.
How do I print using PrintWise?
From any computer with PrintWise installed: 1. Select Print Preview to check your job for content, accuracy and number of pages

Select File > Print. Do you want the entire document? If you only need some of the pages, indicate a page range. (use File > Print Preview to aid in selecting page range)

Enter a job name in the pop-up dialog box (examples: termpaper_1, homework2, assignment10). Enter a temporary password in the lower text field Click OK to send your job to the Print Release Station.

Proceed to the Print Release Station with your Campus Card and follow procedures to get the print job.
How do I get my job to print at the Release Station?
1. 2. Swipe your Campus Card or Courtesy Card to check available balances and view print jobs. Select your job by clicking on the job name. system The displays jobs in the order submitted.

The default view for print jobs is sorted by date and time. You can change the way the jobs are sorted by clicking on the appropriate title bar.

To select more than one job, click the right mouse button while placing the cursor over additional selections.
PrintWise and Rambler Bucks account balances will appear on individual lines.

Click the PRINT icon. Enter your PASSWORD (the temporary password that you assigned to this job.) A message will appear at the bottom of the screen indicating which printer the document will be printed on.
The password field is CASE-SENSITIVE. If your password doesn't work, try turning the caps lock on/off.

Click Logoff or select another job to print. If you don't do anything for 20 seconds, the print station will log you off. You do not have to wait for your document to print before exiting.
Additional Information
Print jobs are held in queue for 2 hours. After 2 hours the print job is automatically deleted. PrintWise will always try to debit from the PrintWise account first. If the balance is zero or there are insufficient funds to print the entire job, PrintWise will automatically switch to and debit from Rambler Bucks.
How do I get a refund?
If your PrintWise output is significantly smudged, faded, streaked, spotty or creased, you can request a refund. Complete a refund request slip available at sites using PrintWise. Attach the entire bad print job and submit it to the lab, library or residence hall staff. Refunds will be reviewed and processed within 7-10 days. If your refund is approved, Campus Card Services will credit your PrintWise or Rambler Bucks account. If your refund is denied, a representative from the Card Office will contact you and explain why. User errors, such as typos or printing the wrong document, will not be refunded. To prevent printing a blank sheet as the final page, be sure to preview your document before printing. Then, ask for a page range that excludes a blank final page. If there is a printer jam while your job is printing, do not turn the printer off. The printer will re-print your job once the jam has been cleared. PrintWise will not charge you for lost page(s).
