thank A you to our ICAST Supporters Air Force Office of Scientific Research AFOSR manages all basic research conducted by the U.S. Air Force. One of the tools used to accomplish this task is to solicit proposals for research. AFOSR also conducts collegial scientific workshops for the purpose of forming partnerships with in-house and extramural (contractor and grantee) researchers in common areas of research. The Air Force also sponsors research assistantship programs, faculty programs, and graduate school programs. La Dlgation Gnrale pour l'Armement Its missions: To prepare the defense of tomorrow: The DGA imagines the possible futures. A Prospective Plan at 30 years, working paper published every year, guides the actions related to the preparation of the future within the Ministry of Defense. It directs the searches and studies for Defense. To undertake the programs of armament: The DGA controls all the stages of manufacture of the materials necessary to the defense of France: from their preparation to their startup. The methods used by the DGA aim at combining the objectives of cost, times and performance of the programs. To cooperate in Europe: The DGA is in the heart of the construction for Europe of defense. It seeks to develop the co-operation with partners and it accompanies French industry in its effort for international consolidation and it supports exports actively. Its aptitude to be projected in the future, its technical and scientific skills, its culture inter-armies, its capacity to lead complex projects and its opening to the international concerns make to consider DGA as a central actor of the system of French defense. European Office of Aerospace Research and Development The European Office of Aerospace Research & Development (EOARD) is a detachment of the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, one of ten directorates of the Air Force Research Laboratory. EOARD is based in London, UK. EOARD's mission is to directly support AFRL research goals by: Providing liaison with members of the European scientific community. Facilitating contact between AF scientists and their European counterparts. Contracting with European scientists to conduct research or support conferences and workshops. Office of Naval Research - The Office of Naval Research (ONR) coordinates, executes, and promotes the science and technology programs of the United States Navy and Marine Corps through universities, government laboratories, and nonprofit and for-profit organizations. It provides technical advice to the Chief of Naval Operations and the Secretary of the Navy, works with industry to improve technology manufacturing processes while reducing fleet costs, and fosters continuing academic interest in Navy-relevant science from high school through post-doctoral levels. The Office of Naval Research Global (ONRG) is headquartered in London, and coordinates a worldwide network of regional offices. As directed by the Chief of Naval Research, ONRG serves as the Department of the Navy Resource for Enhancing Global Science and Technology Connectivity. The ONRG mission is, in the interests of the Chief of Naval Research, to "Serve the as Department of the Navy Resource for Enhancing Global Science and Technology Connectivity". ONRG's primary responsibility to its partners at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), and ONR Headquarters is to provide options for, advocate, and facilitate the establishment of collaborations that infuse international expertise into DoN science and technology programs. ONRG's tasks include conducting liaison with international scientists and engineers through visits, conferences, workshops, and personal research to identify key opportunities and individuals in S&T; providing assessments of international S&T plans, policies, key activities and accomplishments; and exchanging information and ideas in areas of mutual interest to identify opportunities for synergy through cooperation. ONRG's programs are designed to promote international cooperation. They include the Visitor Support Program (VSP), Conference Support Program (CSP), and the Naval International Cooperative Opportunities in Science and Technology Program (NICOP). Additional information can be found on the ONRG Website, http://www.onrifo.navy.mil/. U.S. Office of Naval Research Global HRL Laboratories - HRL is located in Malibu California and conducts applied research in the electronics & information sciences; and creates new products and services for space, telecommunications, defense & automotive applications. HRL is jointly owned by Raytheon Company, General Motors Corp. and The Boeing Company, and provides corporate research and development for those companies. Research programs at HRL span a broad range in information sciences, materials science and electronics. HRL is comprised of four technical laboratories: Communications & Photonics, Information Sciences, Sensors & Materials, and Microelectronics. Soitec is the worlds leading manufacturer and supplier of SOI and emerging stra...
