BAD 302, Exam 1 Study Guide Review Session to be held in McClelland Hall, Room 123, 5-6:30pm (additional time if needed) on Wednesday, Feb. 4th. Please come prepared having completed the review sheet. Disclaimer: This study guide is to facilitate studying for exam #1. It is not a stand-alone document. You are responsible for all material covered in the textbook chapters 1-3, class lectures, and class activities. Good luck and review your slides! Word to the Wise: Know and understand all definitions that are given as a side notes in the chapters 1-3. Examples of this would be moral minimum page 67 and simple structure page 35. Chapter 1: Intro to Management & Organizations What is an organization? What is a manager? Define and Order the Three Management Classifications What is management? What's the difference between Efficiency and Effectiveness? What do managers do? Name and Define the Four Management functions List and Define Mintzberg's three managerial roles List and Define Management skills What is the Contingency perspective Name and define the two types of Managing Systems Name several forces leading organizational change Chapter 2: Foundations of Organizational Structure What are the 7 different key features of organizational structures? Know in what situations and why they are used. (examples are span of control, centralization and chain of command) 1 BAD 302, Exam 1 Study Guide What are three common organizational designs used in business? What are three newer designs? What are two different organizational structures? What are three common strategies that organizations utilize and how they relate to that organizations structure. Understand the 3 factors in the organization's environment What are three sources of power? Chapter 3: Ethics and Social Responsibility of Business What is Ethics? Know different Moral Theories and business ethics (p. 59 example would be Utilitarianism and duty ethics, deontology)?
