Dr. Albert Giordano, who attended Mount Mercy College in 1946-47, was inducted into the Monaca Hall of Fame in October 2004. Sister Grace Ann Geibel '61, Carlow University president, was honored at the United Cerebral Palsy Community Heroes Awards Dinner, where she was the recipient of UCP's Humanitarian Award. Cynthia Nicola '73, created a charm to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of her niece Amber, who died of leukemia-related illness. Agnes Curry Blazunas '80, was honored with a Clinical Excellence Award in 2004 from University Hospitals of Cleveland. She is one of the few nurses who have won this award twice--also receiving it in 1994. Her husband, Bob and her four children (ages 22-16) are very proud of her. Joan D. Meyers '86, is the registrar at Keiser College in Daytona Beach, FL. Joanne Bassilios '95, works for The Pittsburgh Pastoral Institute which helps clients overcome their troubles through faith. Joanne is a social worker and registered nurse and also has a master of divinity. Nicole Bell Waugaman '95, recently returned to work full-time as an administrator of a 77-bed personal care home. Sherry A. Hoback '96, is the founder of Hoback & Associates, Inc. Legal Nurse Consulting in Tampa, FL. Jennifer Kovall Pletcher '97, recently moved to West Palm Beach and is a nursing instructor for Licensed Practical Nurses. Heather Vallone '97, is the operations coordinator for MCG Jazz at the Manchester Craftsmen's Guild, a non-profit arts and learning center on Pittsburgh's North Side. MCG Jazz just won its third Grammy award for RSVP by Nancy Wilson. Shawn McGill '98, is currently working as a grant writer and communications specialist for Sharp Vision, Inc. Denise Schreiber '03, joined the Horticultural Advisory Board at the Community College of Allegheny County. Johanna W. Davidson Bleckman '04, plans to be a graduate student in social work at the University of Michigan this coming September. Nicole Kowalski '04, a Messer scholar, is in the process of finishing her last semester at Carnegie-Mellon University and will graduate in May with a degree in civil engineering. She has accepted a job at Bettis Laboratory in West Mifflin as an associate engineer in the environmental affairs department. Patty Beaumont Saunders '00, is Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations with The Salvation Army; where she is the grant writer for the entire Western Pennsylvania Division.
