Course Number/Title: Section XX: 3 credit hours Credit Hours: Class Time/Place: Prerequisites: Instructor: Course Description: TBA Acceptance into Honors Program TBA This is one of four required courses for the honors program curriculum. The purpose of this course is to demonstrate creative abilities and appreciation for that which is enriching to our society, using eloquent communication skills. This course may be repeatable with different section topics. HNRS 330 Scholarship of Creativity Section Description: Relationship to the Conceptual Framework: This course will fulfill one of four required courses for the honors program and will be taught by various faculty members across the campus. Content areas may differ amongst the instructors; however, the common theme shall be the process of demonstrating creative abilities and appreciation for that which is enriching to our society. In addition the student will be expected to use eloquent communication skills. Following completion of this course, the learner will: Curricular Objectives: Effectively produce a creative production, related to chosen field of study Display appreciation for creative works and that which is enriching to our society. Critically evaluate (i./e., self & peer-assessments) creative works and/or information sources related to chosen field of inquiry. Communicate, verbally and nonverbally, in an appropriate and timely manner through classroom discussions and presentations. Produce written documentation that is accurate, concise, timely, 1 and legible. Course/Section Objectives: Following completion of this section, the learner will: Required Textbooks and other materials: Based on the topic of inquiry, instructors for this seminar will select appropriate materials from a variety of source including but not limited to the following: journal articles, internet sources, textbooks, and visual media. Print Sources, Multimedia/Technology Sources, Professional Sources (e.g., books, articles, dissertations/masters theses, video, Internet sites, professional development) Library and Internet Research Practice/drill Problem solving Reading assignments Role playing/simulation games Service Learning Video/Audio Review and Critique Other Participation Peer Evaluation Portfolio Portfolio Lab Performance Presentations Professional Evaluation Quizzes Research project Other Knowledge Base: Instructional Strategies: Case Analysis Debate Discovery/Independent Research Discussion/Questioning/Interviewing Experiential Learning Field Experience Group Presentation Experiences Laboratory Lecture Methods of Assessment: Abstracts Attendance Capstone Project Case Study Exams Group Projects Homework Assignments Internet Research Journaling Lab Performance Oral/written review of literature Grading: The basis for determination of the final letter grade in HNRS 330 will be: classroom participation, topic paper (20 pages), and a creative production, related to chosen field of inquiry. There must be evidence of self-assessment and peer-assessment utilized to support your creative production. Honors program rubrics are 2 available for both the paper and the presentation. 3 Grading Scale/Distributio n: Grade Points Grading Scale Achievem ent Standard A 4.00 93-100 excellent A3.67 90-92 slightly less than excellent B+ 3.33 87-89 slightly more than good B 3.00 83-86 good B2.67 80-82 slightly less than good C+ 2.33 77-79 slightly more than adequate C 2.00 73-76 adequate C1.67 4 Honor Code: I will not knowingly engage in any dishonorable behavior, cheat, steal, lie, or commit any act of plagiarism during my academic work, course, or endeavor.
