Please review carefully. The procedures that follow will instruct you on how to set up your computer, log in to the company network, change your password and use a new software program DAME, which translates documents that are going to be sent to customers as well as potential customers to Spanish. If any topics are confusing and you can not understand please contact the Information Technology department. They are willing to answer any questions you might have and help you with any problems you might be experiencing. The information provided is confidential and should not be shared with anyone, failure to do so can result in serious repercussions, including but not limited to a referral and up to dismissal. Confidential Page 3 4/21/2009 Set Up Computer You should have received all the components to set up your workstation. 1. Connect the monitor cable to the serial port on the back of the PC. 2. Connect the keyboard and mouse to the PC depending on what you receive. A. Thru USB port if it(has the flat connector at the end of the cable) or B. PS/2 (PS/2 are the ones with the purple and green plugs at the end of the cable). 3. Plug the power cable from the monitor into the power outlet. 4. Plug a power cable from the PC into the power outlet. 5. Finally connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of the PC for internet access. Confidential Page 4 4/21/2009 Logging In to NIS Network Once your computer has been set up 1. Turn on your computer by pressing the power button at the front of the computer. 2. Be patient as the computer conducts its post power on self test which it checks to see if the hardware is connected and functioning properly. Try not to press anything on the keyboard. 3. Once this check is completed the operating system should load up 4. If your in a network your usually prompted to login to the network domain with a username and password *NOTE- if you are not prompted by a login you probably did not connect the Ethernet cable correctly. 5. To log in to the network A. Type in your User Name The User Name you will use is default it will be your LAST NAME and the first two letters of your FIRST NAME. B. Type in your Password The Password you will you is a default one you will be instructed on how to change it after. The Password you will enter will be your Social Number. Security 6. Once the OS loads you are in the network. Confidential Page 5 4/21/2009 Changing Password Remember your login is your LAST NAME with the first 2 letters of you FIRST NAME. Your Password is your Social Security Number. To change User Passwords, proceed as follows: (First log into the network with the above login and password) 1. Click on the Preferences tab in the upper left corner of the screen. 2. The Login name is automatically displayed in the Preference dialog box. *Note: Please do not make any changes to your Login name. All Login names are assigned by Human Resources. 3. Type the old password in the Old Password field. 4. Type the new password in the New Password field. 5. Retype this password in the Confirm Password field to confirm it. 6. Click Save. Confidential Page 6 4/21/2009 Using the DAME Program Once you have logged in to the Network you will have all the programs you will need to complete your work. The main program you will be using is called DAME. With this program you will be able to translate important documents for our customers as well as potential customers to Spanish. 1. Go to the START menu located at the bottom left of you computer screen. 2. Left click on the mouse once you will see the Menu. 3. Drag you mouse over the menu to the top were you see FOUNDATION TOOLS. a. Left click the mouse and the foundation tools drop down menu will appear. b. Scroll you mouse down until you see DAME Program. c. Left click again and the program will open. 4. Once the program is open you will see a screen. 5. Begin by ty...
