1100 MATH (5-DAY) COURSE SYLLABUS - FS2006 Your Homework: You are responsible to know how to do all the problems assigned on the LAB WORKSHEETS, all the PRACTICE EXERCISES, and all the TEXTBOOK'S worked out examples as your exam problems will be similar to them It is strongly recommend that you do the PRACTICE EXERCISES and the MML GRADED HOMEWORK on a daily basis, and as soon as they are posted in the course syllabus. This way, your teacher will be able to answer any questions you may have on those assignments during the following class period. By doing so, you will be always prepared for any pop quiz and you will be bound to do very well in this course. The worst scenario is to skip all the PRACTICE EXERCISES and wait until the deadline date to do and submit just the MML GRADED HOMEWORK. If you do so, your chances of passing the course will be greatly reduced, as you would have avoided doing some very important problems that may be reflected on your exams. Your class attendance is all important, since most of your learning will take place every time you participate actively in class. Take all in-class LAB SESSIONS very seriously and keep on task. When you do your work, it is essential that you do not use your calculator's advanced features (such as [SOLVER], etc. to obtain a correct answer. If you use your calculator instead of the math skills you must possess this will negatively affect your performance on your exams. Please keep in mind the following. Regarding all written assignments 1) Always work all problems by pencil and paper first, then, use your calculator to verify your answers, unless specified otherwise. Utilize the STUDENT SOLUTION MANUAL, which is available in MyMathLab, or its hardbound version that came shrink-wrapped with your textbook, to view the full solutions to all the textbook's odd-numbered problems. 2) Regarding the exams 1) As a rule, calculators are NOT allowed on exams. Whenever calculators are necessary, exams will consist of two parts, with each part timed separately. Part I will allow calculators. After Part I is entirely collected, all calculators will be put away. Then Part II will be distributed. No calculators whatsoever will be allowed on Part II. On some of the exam or quiz problems, you may have to show all your work for any credit. If you don't support your answer by showing all your work, even if your final answer is correct, you will not receive any credit. 2) Regarding MyMathLab/CourseCompass MyMathLab offers you a significant number of learning resources, which we encourage you to use. With its multimedia textbook, lecture videos, practice exams, and built in tutorials, you are given the opportunity to learn and learn well. Please keep in mind that your ticket to success is a positive attitude, putting the necessary time to do the required work, and seeking assistance early, as soon as needed. 10 L E S S O N D A T E S TEXTBOOK SECTIONS COVERED AND IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES READINGS AND PRACTICE EXERCISES These can be found among the STUDY PLAN exercises in MML.
