(416)736-2100 Ext 20582 MW 08:30 10:00 TEL0001 Fall 2005 Teaching Assistant: Office: Office Hours: TBA TBA TBA COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course introduces the theory and practice of empirical analysis of economic models. The course begins with a review of basic probability theory and statistics. Linear regression analysis is then developed and applied in the course. Both the simple two-variable model and the multiple regression model are examined. Various functional forms of regression models are explored as well as how to handle qualitative data. The course concludes by examining cases in which the assumptions of the classical linear regression model are relaxed. Throughout the course, use is made of data sets and statistical software packages to show how the theory is applied. PREREQUISITES: AS/ECON2500 3.0.
