Project PRJ566 Proposal PRJ566 Project Proposal Form Team #: A01 Team Members: Shawn Dinis Patrick Lam Tony Lai Client: Robert Smith VP Solution Development Innovasium Inc. Brief description of system you are proposing. Please include your research reference (contacts, etc.): ACMS is a content management system (CMS) that enables users to easily maintain and edit their website. Upon installation, the user is asked some of their basic server information such as server URL and database location. After successful installation, whenever a user accesses the CMS, a login screen is displayed and once logged in will see a general homepage/main menu that gives the user the ability to create/edit/delete: users (admin only), web-pages, files, templates, and more. They can also recover recently deleted items which are removed from the website but kept in an area of the server unrelated to the website. In other words, a user friendly web application for users to manage their websites in a graphical user interface environment. Research Information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_management_system Research Reference: Robert Smith Please explain why you feel there is a need or market for this system. Most CMS out there are currently in house developed programs specifically designed for specific companies. We want to create a CMS which can be used generically for most website structures (specifically HTML). 1 We would like to create a system for users to easily manage their websites, since website structures can become very complicated and difficult to manage for new users. With a graphical environment, which will be much more user friendly than others, users can maintain higher control their over websites. PRJ566 Project Proposal 2 Please describe the system in more detail. Choose the functions that you feel are most important and describe how they will work. The system allows the user to maintain their website in a friendly graphical environment. After a successful installation, a simple login screen shows up for the user to access the website. Once the user has logged in, they will be able to use many of the tools/options in the CMS such as: User Manager, Media Manager, Template Manager, Webpage Manager, Recovery System, and more. Installation: 1) Enter Server URL 2) Enter database information Login: 1) Enter User Name and password 2) Remember Me function 3) Forgot Password function User Manager (Admin only): 1) Create/edit/delete users 2) Create/edit/delete user groups 3) Permission level Media Manager: 1) Upload/delete file 2) Modify uploaded file 3) Set permission restrictions Template Manager: 1) Upload/delete templates 2) Select default template to use for website 3) Modify temp...
