With expertise in the areas of innovation and technology management, he brings the perspective of strategic change and product commercialization to the challenges of aligning environmental, social and financial stakeholders. His research interests include technology management, design for sustainability, and financial and operational metrics of sustainability. He is an active consultant with organizations including Siemens, Xerox, Red Hat, IBM, Ford, U.S. EPA and Dept. of the Navy, among others. FEBRUARY 6 5:307:00 pm "Market Dynamics & Opportunity in Green Building and Renewable Energy" Timothy Toben, CEO, Carolina Green Energy LLC Tim Toben is the founder and former CEO of Knowledgebase Marketing, a Chapel Hill database marketing firm that was sold in 1999 to Young & Rubicam. Prior to founding KBM, Mr. Toben was founder and CEO of Customer Management Services in Chapel Hill. He currently serves on the boards of UNCs Carolina Environmental Program, the NC office of Environmental Defense, and Dukes Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences. Mr. Toben received his bachelors degree from UNCChapel Hill in 1981 and masters degree from Univ. of the Pacific. In 1999, he acquired the 350acre Pickards Mountain Natural Area in Orange County and placed much of it in a conservation easement with the Conservation Trust of NC. Mr. Toben is currently the CEO of Carolina Green Energy LLC and the managing partner of Greenbridge Developments, LLC, a builder of LEED building complexes in North Carolina. FEBRUARY 20 5:307:00 pm "Environmental Protection & International Trade" Tom Cors, Attorney Tom Cors is an attorney, lobbyist and consultant. Most recently, he was the assistant director for research, federal affairs at UNCChapel Hill, where he focused on advancing the University's federal relations agenda. Previously in Washington, D.C., he focused on international aspects of energy, climate change, biological diversity, and agricultural biotechnology issues for the State Department and the White House. Mr. Cors was a biosafety legal consultant for the U.N. Secretariat of Convention the on Biological Diversity for several negotiations of the Biosafety Protocol and studied French law at the Jean Monnet School of Law in Paris, France. He served in the Peace Corps as an agroforestry extension agent in Senegal. He has worked with clients including The Wallace Global Fund, International Finance Corporation, InterAmerican Development Bank, NAFTA, USAEP, The Surdna Foundation, and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), among others. Mr. Ganzi's recent experience includes managing the Finance Institute for Global Sustainability. Earlier in his career, he spent 12 years as a Citicorp Vice President holding different positions throughout the bank's domestic and international commercial and consumer units. Mr. Ganzi's most recent venture is Eco Inn Experiences, an ecotourism business, for which he serves as cofounder and Managing Principal.
