Rise Low 6-6364 Cornell University Ithaca, NY 14853 November 14, 2006 Dear Pierce Brosnan: Vegas Times Mr. Brosnan, I by all means understand the consideration and scrutiny involved in selecting the weekly editorials. Let me reassure you, as a recent publisher who was in charge of editorial submissions, that my editorial, G?d, will go above and beyond your expectations. In a world riddled with the battles between science and G-d, my submission will not only captive Vegas Times' current subscribers, but all of the controversial points expressed will evoke even more readers to anticipate my next editorial which will thus amplify subscription sales. The question of G-d, which looms above our heads to this day, is scrutinized throughout one of the 18th century's greatest works, The Persian Letters (1721). Is G-d Allah? Is G-d Yawabh? Is there even a G-d? How are we to live our lives? What are we to do? What are we not to do? These are the questions running through the minds of Vegas Times' teenage target audience. If published, G?d will ease and direct readers to answer these questions with the help of 18th century philosophers, literary works, and contemporary reasoning. Thank you for considering my submission and ; I highly anticipate our initial meeting. Sincerely yours, Armand Editorialist Comment [PB1]: The formatting of email this (specifying the name, then a colon, then the name of the newspaper) looks strange to me... is it anything you have seen? Let me know... Comment [PB2]: Nice move! Maybe mention where you have done your work, in case they want to check it out... it is a bold statement to make, without backing it up... Comment [PB3]: I would try and explain how... I am sure your next paragraph will address this, but I think it should be placed right here... Comment [PB4]: Boy... you are applying for a job here, not just publication in the newspaper! It is a nice move, but not one I would make... that's just who I am... Comment [PB5]: superfluous Comment [PB6]: I would have liked you to delve deeper into your essay, explaining how you were going to address these points... maybe a few examples? I would also have made a point about your title: there is a reason why you placed a question mark instead of a dash... Comment [PB7]: You lost me here... Comment [PB8]: Why the plural? You have only mentionned Montesquieu! If you had delved deeper into your essay, then the plural would have made more sense... I know because I remember your essay, but your editor hasn't... Comment [PB9]: If you wanted to meet with him, I would go right ahead and ask for a meeting... if that had been mentioned earlier, I would just verify the day and time...
