Press Associated 03/03/06 Young business hopefuls hope to get financing at conference AMES, Iowa Business investor John Pappajohn told more than 350 students at Iowa State University today that to be successful, they should get up early, have a positive mental attitude and get a good education. The 77-year-old Pappajohn, of Des Moines, has earned hundreds of millions of dollars investing in startup businesses. A Greek immigrant who plucked chickens and peddled vegetables as a youth, he says he gets up at 4:30 every morning. He spoke at an entrepreneurs conference today attended by students across from the state. Many of the students who attended the conference hope to start their own businesses. A dozen groups were given the opportunity to give a brief presentation to Pappajohn.
