(2) New Idea and Strengths
The writers of the paper propose a new idea for accessing/sharing data from mobile wireless devices through the use of ad hoc, or
peer-to-peer, connectivity. They are trying to increase the availability of data to users roaming a metropolitan area. They
propose 7DS as a means of allowing mobile devices to share data among each other, whom might not necessarily have to be connected
to the Internet. 7DS would allow mobile devices to transparently connect to different mobile access methods depending on
the availability of wireless providers. network This application would have two different means of accessing data: Prefetch mode,
where the mobile device will gather infomation anticipated by the needs of users, or On-Demand mode, where the mobile device
will try to collect data from another peer device if it failed to do so from the Internet.
(3) Weaknesses and Extensions
The 7DS system will not be as effective in places with limited wireless connectivity and/or limited peer-to-peer availability.
