FINAL EXAMINATION STUDY GUIDE COMMUNICATION 257--public relations MR. POCOCK SPRING 2009 SECTION I: DEFINITIONS (20 POINTS) I want you to be familiar with terminology used in the field of public relations so you can have an intelligent discussion during a job or internship interview. A Glossary is included on pages 546-562 of the textbook. You should know these terms if you plan to practice public relations . In this section, you will be asked to answer two questions. I will provide an extensive list of the words from the Glossary. Your answers must incorporate at least twenty of the words from that list. Your answer must demonstrate that you understand the definitions used in the discussion of public relations . SECTION II: PRESS RELEASE (20 POINTS) You will be asked to write a press release, using proper format, on a specific topic. Remember: Press releases must be factual and brief. I would expect no more than three paragraphs and I understand the "fact" portion can only be judged by the knowledge you bring to class that night. That is, you will not have the time or resources to conduct research for more facts on the topic. However, be assured the topic will be one for which you'll have all the "facts" you need! SECTION III: ESSAY (60 POINTS) The last section of the examination asks you to apply your knowledge by creating a public relations campaign for a specific purpose and client. I will base your grade on how well you creatively apply what you've learned from the textbook readings and our guest lecturers In addition, I will ask you to complete a Course Evaluation and Evaluations for Each of your Teammates. Both the Course and Team evaluations will be anonymous s...
