Essex Local Association Dr Steve Sangwine President c/o School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering University of Essex, Wivenhoe Park, Colchester CO4 3SQ 01206 872401 [e-mail] 10 March 2009 Dear Mr Gore, At a quorate General Meeting of Essex UCU held today, the following motion was passed: Noting the decision by the new US President to restrict pay increases for senior White House staff, and growing calls in the UK for curbs on bonuses and executive pay, and noting that UCEA is suggesting that pay increases for university staff in 2009 will be close to 0%, Essex UCU calls upon the University of Essex Remuneration Committee to publicly state that no senior staff of the university, including the Vice-Chancellor, will receive a pay increase or bonus or remuneration increase or beneft in kind, in 2009-2012 that is greater in value in percentage terms than the lowest percentage increase paid to staff on the nationally negotiated pay spine.
