GROWTH PROFESSIONAL PLAN WINTER 2000 Course name: EED455 Student name: AZ Members Attending the Conference: 3/31/2000 Coordinator: University Supervisor: Student Teacher: Cooperating Teacher: Sherrill Karppinen Donna Haymond AZ Brief Overview of Professional Growth Plan: AZ began her student teaching experience at Troy/Barnard on January 3, 2000. Concerns raised by the university supervisor and cooperating teacher, resulted in their conferencing with AZ on March 1 and setting specific expectations which needed to be met in order for successful completion of the internship. Because of a concern on March 31 that these expectations were not all being met, all parties met to discuss the issues, determine a specific growth plan to summarize the concerns, and to outline expectations for successful completion of this student teaching placement. Student Strengths: 1. AZ has made progress in projection and assertiveness. 2. AZ has planned ways to display student work. Overview of Progress and Experiences-Concerns 1. Planning and preparedness is perceived to be a problem. 2. Lack of planning and/or late planning contributes to little original ideas for assignments and lessons, or a lack of familiarity with lesson and/or materials. 3. AZ has been asked to devise a seating chart to revise seating according to what she has learned about her students. This has not yet been done. 4. AZ has not been able to take over full control of the classroom for the required minimum of three full weeks. Expectations and Conditions to be Met: 1. AZ must complete all lesson planning for the following week by Thursday and review all her plans with Mr. XX 2. AZ must plan detailed lesson plans and must read and do all exercises that students will be required to do, in advance, so that she can explain to students and answer student questions regarding process/procedure/content. These plans should include extensions beyond what is found in the teacher manual 3. materials. AZ is to devise and implement a new seating arrangement, based on what she knows about the students and their patterns of behavior. 4. AZ s student teaching placement will be extended until May 13. She will be expected to demonstrate the ability to consistently handle all classes and planning for the period of April 10-May 13. These include Math, English, Reading/Spelling, Computers. In order to successfully complete EED455 and be recommended for certification, AZ must satisfactorily meet all of the above expectations, as well as all other requirements set forth in the internship handbook. Outcome Options: If all requirements are satisfactorily met, Heather will receive a grade of 2.8 to 4.0 and will be recommended for certification. However, if all of the requirements are not satisfactorily met, AZ will receive a grade of less than 2.8 and may graduate with a degree in elementary education but will be excluded from the certification program. EED455 may not be repeated. Because of the extension, AZ will not be able to graduate until the spring 2000 semester. Support Services: 1. Visitations by and conferences with University Supervisor on a regularly scheduled basis. 2. Visitations by and conferences with Coordinator of School & Field Services if requested. 3. University sponsored seminars and University Supervisor conducted seminars. 4. Use of the services available at the Oakland University ERL and library.
