of Office the Provost and Senior Vice President General Business Administration Degree Designation: BA/BS Mission Statement The USF College of Business Administration will provide a high quality, diverse learning environment preparing students to contribute to and take leading positions in business and society. Our teaching, scholarship and service will link theory and practice to benefit the University and the communities it serves. Program Objectives The General Business Administration (GBA) major comprises minor concentrations in any two of the six College of Business Administration disciplines: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Management, and Marketing, or any of the discipline concentrations and the International Business minor concentration. Each of these concentrations consists of 12 semester hours of coursework beyond the core. The objective of the GBA major is to provide students the opportunity to (1) pursue a broad-based study of business through upper level course work in two disciplines and/or (2) tailor a program of studies that combines upper level coursework in business with electives from outside the College to meet career preparation goals. The GBA major, combined the with business core and the Strategic Management capstone course, will prepare students for further studies in business, entry-level positions in management, accounting, finance, marketing, and information technology across industries, and small business management. Student Learning Outcomes Core student learning outcomes are identified separately for each of the minor concentrations. Content / Discipline Skills Critical Thinking Skills Communication Skills Assessment Strategies Content/discipline skills are assessed at the departmental level. Knowledge/skills/abilities specific to each minor concentration are assessed by individual departments using a variety of approaches including exams, projects, presentations and other means of evaluation. Critical thinking skills are assessed centrally as part of the General Education Assessment process conducted by the Office of Division Support. Written communication skills are assessed centrally as part of the General Education Assessment process conducted by the Office of Division Support; oral communication skills are assessed in the General Education program as well as in the Strategic Management Capstone course required of all business students.
