Section The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women is a multilateral treaty that was adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations1 on 18 December 1979. Despite various approaches to ensure equality of rights of men and women, discrimination against women continues to exist (15). Part one through four of the treaty discusses the term discrimination against women and outlines in all forms what women are not to be singled out for. Women should be able to enjoy all economic, social, cultural, civil and political rights (14).
