Stilley Thomas English 15, sec. ? Foley Abram 15 January 2010 My mother is not much of a chef, many dinners consist of take-out, mac and cheese, or T.V. dinners. The rest of the time it is my Dad working his magic on the grill. However, I work at a gas station, which is a little different in my home of New Jersey then it is in the rest of the country. In New Jersey, a gas attendant pumps gas for the customer. I worked at a small service station mostly catering to the blue collar people of the area. In the makeshift office there is a second-rate fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. While feeble compared to just about any other kitchen on the planet, this is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of disturbingly pleasant. Since before I was employed at the gas station, this kitchen has become a local haven for tow truck drivers, police officers, mechanics, and plumbers, construction contractors. Only here will a cop spit his chewing tobacco spit in with the coffee grinds, brew a pot, and drink a cup of joe in one gulp. Only here will an ex-convict truck driver joke about an police officers attractive wife, while cooking Ramen Noodles, and have the rest of the usual crowd laughing, without getting beat with a nightstick. Antics like this really emphasize the disturbing part. However Ive been given many pearls of wisdom by people who have seen and done it all. This wisdom ranged from dating advice, the pros and cons of every type of beer, whiskey, cigarettes and chewing tobacco, and how to get out of traffic tickets. While some of this advice you can imagine being disturbing, the camaraderie from this place and motley crew of blue collar folks is undoubtedly pleasant, and really could not be found anywhere else
