Secondly, Jackson, as President, made no effort to uphold the agreements between the U.S. government and tribes that declared the states have no power and jurisdiction in Indian Territory.
Thirdly, at another point in Jackson's presidency, he vowed to protect the Native Americans as a
father protects his son as long as they are cooperative and mindful of possible consequences. But
he continuously allowed the forced movement of numerous tribes farther and farther west. The
U.S. government dealt with Native American's in a very unfair and disrespectful manner.
