9/2008 Rev The curriculum is Electrical Engineering is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and guided by the Mission Statement of the Department. The curriculum features required courses in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, General Education, Computer Science, and the fundamentals of Electrical Engineering. Within the BSEE program, students have the opportunity to complete the degree by taking a broad range of courses within the field of Electrical Engineering. The Department also offers specialization tracks in Computer Engineering (CompE) and Bioelectrical Engineering (BioE). All students in the ECE Department receive a broad background in the fundamentals of electrical and computer engineering. The EE curriculum is defined by the requisite courses in electromagnetics, electronics, and control systems. The CompE curriculum is defined by the requisite courses in computer science, digital logic and microprocessor, and embedded systems. The BioE curriculum is defined by requisite courses in biology, anatomy, physiology, electromagnetics, control systems, and digital signal processing. The Electrical Engineering curriculum requires a minimum of 124 credits and can be completed as a Four Year Curriculum. Some courses can also be taken during Summer Sessions to alleviate the number of credit hours required in the Fall and Spring Semesters. In selecting a course of study, students should consider the concept that "It's not how long you take to graduate, it's how well". Students who have part-time jobs should consider taking fewer courses of about 12 credit hours per semester, which allows completion of the degree in five years while they maintain full-time status as a student. Consult the faculty advisor for details.
