Questions Name Review _____Sabrina Harrideo __ Answer the following questions (use MS Project help if necessary): 1) Define effort-driven? To drive tasks by the effort, allocate a 1st resource and give them the desired amount of work for the task; then allocate additional resources; the more resources you will have on a same task, the shorter the task will be for the same total amount of work 2) Under what circumstances would you turn off effort driven scheduling? You may have a task that is very complex or requires highly-skilled resources. Adding more resources may slow the team down if task activities need additional coordinating or if people need instruction before they can perform. If you're not sure how much work there will be for a task, turning off effort-driven scheduling can let the assignment of resources and duration determine work accordingly. With effortdriven scheduling turned off, the amount of work can change. 3) Use a real-world example when of you would make a task as a Fixed Duration type task? A case where fixed duration IS the best choice of task type: Let's say you have a task that needs to be done sometime in the next two weeks. You know it will only take 20 hours to complete the task. You assign one person to the task. You don't really care if that person does it all right away or spreads the work over the two week span, you just need it done sometime in that two week period. 4) What is the formula for calculating duration? Task Duration = Total resources work / Total resources Units 5) What are the eight preset work contours (hint: In the Task Usage view right click on a resource name an open the assignment information box) and what are the procedures in applying them to a resource on a task? Bell, Flat, Turtle, Back loaded, Front loaded, Double peak, Early peak, and Late peak. These contours indicate the shapes that the work distribution takes over the assignment span
