College Axia Material Psychotherapy Matrix Psychodynamic Therapy Sum mary of Appr oach Behavioral Approaches to Therapy Works on resolving psychological problems by modifying peoples thoughts, feelings, expectations, evaluations, and ultimately behavior. Psychoanalytic Works to bring unresolved past conflicts and unacceptable impulses from the unconscious into the conscious, where patients may deal with the problems more effectively. The main objective is to get the patient is realize their unconscious so they will accept their thoughts and feelings that have been repressed; the repressed thoughts and feelings are believed to have an influence on behaviors. Cognitive Approaches to Therapy Teaches both positive and negative behavior positive through and negative reinforcement. Abnormal behaviors are changed by learning new normal behavior. Treatment approaches that teach people to think in more adaptive ways by changing their dysfunctional perceptions about the world and themselves. Patients learn to contest their expectations and learn new habits to old problems. Teaches new skills on how to solve conflicts or problems instead of old ways that were dysfunctional.
