Management Q1). can be defined as a process of bringing about improvement in knowledge, skill, habits and attitudes of the employees in an organization. Discuss. Ans: Management is defined as group of functions like planning, organizing, leading, coordinating and controlling the efforts of employees towards one common goal. It involves combining of individual goals to that of organizational goal. Employee is the main resource of any organization. A manager is himself an employee of an organization. Each and every activity of management deals with employees and management brings improvement in the knowledge skill and attitudes of the employee in an organization. Lets analyze this statement with each and every activity of management. Firstly, management requires planning to be active in any organization. Planning is the determination of the objective of an organization to achieve maximum profit effectiveness, the establishment of policies and innovating better ways of performing a given task. So in this activity managers have to identify common objectives of the organization, they need to lay down the set of activities, actions that needs to be taken by other employees, so manager needs to be proactive, they need to give a proper thought, calculative in the planning activities. If the managers are involved in the planning activities, there skills like analytical abilities, farsightedness are improved. It improves the decision-making capability of managers. Organizing is the next function of management that means coordinating the activities of various groups of employees, assets, money and time in to efficient production of goods and services. It involves establishing intentional structure of roles for people. In this activity managers needs to identify various tasks, various resources and allocating tasks among those resources. This improves employees (managers) delegation skills, by doing so managers will become matured to identify various resources and allocating work to them. On the other hand employees will understand their responsibilities, they will understand their roles in the organization. Interaction between superior the and subordinate will take place. Here motivation of employees is the key thing. Managers will work for increasing the motivation level among their subordinates. This will enable them to understand various individuals and to analyze their needs. Managers will become more serious and matured towards human relations. This will improve their patience, maturity and endurance. On the other hand non-managers employees will also tend to be self-motivating that will improve their attitudes towards life. Management also requires a ability of leadership. Good leaders are made not born and they develop through a never-ending process of self-study, education, training and experience. To inspire the people in to higher levels of teamwork there are certain things that must be taken care of, these are acquired through continual work and study, and thus management improves employees knowledge One of the main components of management is communication that is not only involved in the organizations but in all the fields of life. Communication is the process of sharing, transfer of messages, facts, opinion, ideas or attitudes and emotions between a sender and receiver or between to or more people. Sharing or exchange is a two way process. Communication is a very important in all activities of life. Communication means effective verbal delivery of message, effective expressions, effective listening. Thus communication improves skills like clear speaking, effective listening, and patience. These are the skills that are necessary for any individual to exist. Last is the control function of management. This has often been called the essence of management. Coordination is best brought by direct face-to-face contact or direct access between the concerned members of the organization by cutting across departments and management levels. This improves the coordination of the employees, they becomes more expressive, communicative and extrovert. Thus we can say that Management can be defined as a process of bringing about improvement in knowledge, skill, habits and attitudes of the employees in an organization.
