Wajcman Judy brings a very heated topic about female and technologies in one of her chapters called Feminist Theories of Technology. In this chapter she discusses two view points which were control of female and nature and gender segregation in jobs. Over the years new female technologies have been developed from what it used to be. Women used to work in cloth factories and men in more technological factories. The segregation between men and women should from their jobs. As time passed though new technologies came out for the women's ability. Then the writer talks about two types of technologies domestic and reproductive. Domestic technology is when women had a tough time at home with technologies. The solution this of was new technologies came out to help these women at home. Reproductive technology on the other hand is a misunderstanding with technology and women's unchanging behavior. What she meant by this is that male don't get in the way of women and nature of technologies. The goal of this chapter is that people understand the relationship between society, gender and technology. After reading this chapter it made me realize she is right. The society had separated gender role in technology. As the years pass though, more females are becoming more dominated with males work in technology. The author is a strong feminist but has proved her point by giving a very good description and examples in this chapter.
