26, June 2011 Dear Adrian Gil (after college), Hi there, I am writing this letter to myself so that I can know who I was at the end of my senior year in high school and so that I can see how much I have changed throughout my college experience. So basically to begin this I think I will write about who I am right now. Let's start with what I like about myself and what I would like to change about myself. I like about myself that I am a very relaxed person that does not start drama out of nothing. If other people around me mess up, I let them know that they messed up and I forgive them. I might not forget it but I don't make the problem huge and throw a tantrum. Also I don't really expect to get much back from anybody. When I do things I do them for myself most of the time and not because I am expecting something in return. Now if I do get something in return it is almost like an added bonus. I'm fun to be around, funny, and a loyal friend. Things that I do not like about myself are how easy I get tired of things and how easy it is for me to get thrown around. I have to stop getting tired of things (including people) so damn fast otherwise this whole new roommate thing is not going to work in the fall. I also have to stop doing it with girls. It should not be as amazing as it is that my current girlfriend has almost lasted two months. (Wait what?!?! It's about to be two months?????) That is a bad thing about me. Then one of the other things that I really do not like is how easy it is for me to get thrown around. It is a lot easier than I thought since I do not mind putting myself out there for friends and just anybody in general but some people just take complete advantage of it. I think I am doing a much better job with that lately. I do feel like sometimes I act in a bit of a mean way but it is only towards those who would not do the same for me. I know that is a bit against what I said I liked about myself but it's something that I need to fix. A couple other I things want to add on there is my lack of motivation and my tendency towards procrastination. Those are two really big things I need to fix or college is just going to kill me. I also want to add that I want to learn how to do hypnosis and how to train my mind in the art of psychology so that I can be able to read others body language and emotions and hopefully be able to help a lot of people out with their problems (friends, not strangers. That would just be creepy). A couple things that I am looking forward to when it comes to college are the college parties. At first I thought those were going to be the most amazing things in the world. However, as the date is getting closer for me to begin those parties they just do not seem as appealing anymore. I don't even like drinking alcohol so I don't know how much fun I will be able to have along those lines. Still I am looking forward to them. I am also looking forward to reaching a deeper understanding of chemistry. I am really going to try hard to score a job in a chemistry lab so that I can go beyond what I will learn in the classroom. I can't wait for that. Things that I will be leaving behind and will miss greatly are of course my family, my friends, and my girlfriend. I feel that now that we are so close to the end I have truly made my ties with those around me incredibly strong and it's a bit depressing that we will all be leaving soon. I wish that we would have made our ties this strong a year ago and would have had that last year to really be a family. However, I think that part of the reason it happened is because we are going away soon. I realize that in the end this letter does not really say a lot of really deep material but this is what I want me to know four years in the future. I don't want to talk about my problems and other things like that because frankly, I just will not care four years from now. That is all. Hope you did well in college. June 26, 2011 Sincerely, Adrian Gil (18 yrs old)
