Hospitality Management
What is hospitality management? It includes food management and operations, lodging
management, global tourism, and entertainment management. Hospitality has become more and
more popular. More and more students choose this subject and want to get the bachelor degree s.
It is interesting to attract so many students. It isnt like marketing, finance and accounting that is
so boring. And need difficult mathematics to do it. Hospitality just needs brain to think about a
lot of creative ideas and to accumulate more and more experiences. Hospitality is an exciting and
many sides industry that offers kinds of career opportunities to those who have earned a hotel or
restaurant degree. It is relevant such as hotel, restaurant, airline, gaming, tourism and so on.
Nowadays, more and more hotels and casinos will open a business. It needs a lot of people to
offer hotel, casino, and food and so on. It is a chance. Like entertainment management it includes
theme park management and cinema management. It needs a lot of talented people to find the
best way to do it. It needs imagination to do it. Most young people want to do it. It is a challenge
and can have more communication with people. It isnt like some people do work in th e office.
Hospitality management can supply more and more chance s to chat with people. It is good for
peoples health. It is team work. With the development of society, people know how to relax
themselves, they want to travel to relax their heart and have a v acation to rest. So tourism
management also needs people to offer perfect service. The main point of hospitality is hotel
management. It is a huge business. Thousands upon thousands of hotels set up are every day.
And hotel management includes so many things. Like food, everyone must eat. Like lodging,
when people are on a business trip or have something not at home, he must find some places to
live. To sum up, it is important to know what is involved in hospitality management and
operations in order to your own business.
Hospitality management|3
Hospitality industry
At present hospitality industry has a fast increase.
It is an international industry.
DeFranco A. L & Lattin, T.W. in their book Hospitality financial management, said working in
an environment that is interesting, exciting and provokes passion is what the hospitality industry
is all about. Not only do you get this great environment but the compensation is fantastic and
there is credit for advancement. Two different services make up the hospitality-one is supplying
lodging for those who arent at home and another one is for those who didnt prepare their food.
The two services are the main point needs of people who need a place to sleep and require a
place for food. We need to know the original position of the industry.
The international
hospitality industrys special is an industry that is made up with a comparatively small number of
big companies. The companies are allover the world and a huge number of restricted areas of the
body are operated by small and suited-sized companies. (2008). The roots of hospitality tell us
the relationships with hosts and guests. And it lets us knows more about hospitality. Clarke, A.
& Chen, W. in their book, International hospitality management, started that hotel is rooted in
the development of the relationship between the host and guest since the first human society
appeared. It is an honor for others to visit you, as a good master, you treat your guests respect
and provide a comfortable, safe and entertainment. Nowadays, service is the key in hospitality.
Businessman must keep their patient to have a fantastic service for customers.
The good relationships with guests and masters is very significant. This part will tell the
relationships influence. When a guest to master's home, masters was welcome hearts people to
their home. It is your responsibility to repay the kindness and respect to the customs. Even when
we look at the earliest beginning of the ho spitality industry, we found a mixed trip, or near or far,
but they are the set of contacts within the scope of the relationship between subject and object
Hospitality management|4
honor. In determining the race of our books in this contest, we recognize that we are visiting
again in fact, a trampling, but there is still an argument corner, the hospitality field. In the past
few years, Smith has a research on the impact of tourism and tourism development. We are
seeking to use it to set up on the significance of Smith's original work to explore the dynamics of
the international hospitality management. We adopt a holistic view and attitude of human society,
we agree to cross-cultural analysis of Smith. Outstanding change is inherent and the setback
distance as communication and transportation and their destination are closely related with the
time, the authenticity, identity and race. (2007). It can see the roots of the hospitality. And the
perfect relationship between guests and host is important, the customer is god. Businessman
must offer fantastic services for customers and communication is also significant. Everything
has a contact, the hospitality isnt only hotel or tourism, they have a huge contact. The
businessman must find the best way to get in touch with all the things together.
Hospitality operations
This part is about hospitality operation. It is has three important things. The hospitality
includes kinds of things. Three significant sides are hotel, tourism and casino. These there sides
contact economic very close and it has a huge effect on the economic.
Hotel
This part is about outsourcing. Hotels have become the dispensable part of peoples life.
Everyone needs to have a trip and people only choose to live in the hotel. Clarke & Chen in their
books stated that the traditional hotel restaurant is still the main characteristics. And the mediumsized hotels is more popular. The services for the honored guest reflect - added incentive.
However, some of the hotels have managed to attract customers, primarily through open all day
dining outlets. Also a certain number of lavish hotels, especially premium or in London, it
Hospitality management|5
features signature media management and marketing as an independent entity to the hotel. Many
others decide their food and beverage outsourcing is very important. All of the food and beverage
service and facilities, there is a sign of fuzzy. The outsourcing of help and development between
networks as the famous chef's contract restaurant establish hotels and restaurants. The
Outsourcing trend, will add more innovation and development. The number of hotels outsourcing
their food and beverage equipment will be what in the next few years, especially in London, such
as more attracted to a safe revenue stream, and avoid the costs and professional requirement to
run a restaurant. In this competitive market, inhibit the growth of the dining out hotel catering
market, it is possible the market will continue to fall, in real terms, in the short term. It has been
pointed out that a key factor hindered the development of the future, a lack of food and beverage
service expert, they can take food and drink market, management of operation efficiency and
develop effective market behavior. Contracting out of food and beverage service to third parties
will continue to be a major trend in the hotel, catering industry in the next few years, although it
will be in London's far more powerful than provinces. Outsourcing is a business mode and it is
very important. It can let the turnover increase very fast. So the business man choose what
strategies is can has a impact on their hotel.
In this society the competition is very intense. The hotel must become more and more
competitive. So like many hotels continue to slow down because of consumer demand for
evolution of food and beverages, competitive street, attractive catering service outsourcing will
become more attractive. Many of the vertical integration between the hotel and restaurant group,
outsourcing decision is often not such a radical step, for many hotels costs and benefits remain
within the group. Most outsourcing is a charge or percentage basis and this is expected to remain
unchanged. Outsourcing is not the straightforward option for the hotel. To attract customers
Hospitality management|6
booking hotel, located in where there is easy to enter the hotel restaurant street and position (etc),
central, rural must conform to the target customers - and the product must be attractive by trade.
Although these constraints but with the outsourcing is greatly increased. The number of
restaurants will fast raises in the future. (2007). Along with the social economy development, the
hotel industry growth will more and more fast. How to seize the opportunity is very important
and outsourcing is a good way to success.
Hotels must offer customers a comfortable place. What the customer feels has an impact
on the business. Giving good service is a difficult word. All of the employees must need
education and train hard and start to learn it.
Tourism
Tourism has become more and more popular in this world. Everyone needs rest, people
can choose travel and most of the people like travel. They want to look around this world. They
can see different some sceneries and know other countries culture.
Tourism has a vast impact on the economy. Tourism brings growth and opportunities for
the economy. Generally, it really helps to keep small business open. It lets more and more
company be found. Such as travel agencies. It can earn a lot of money. Nowadays, most of the
people will choose them to have vacation. Walker, J.R in his book Exploring the hospitality
industry, said that tourism is a lively, development consumer orientated strength, it is the world's
largest industry if all related components are placed in an umbrella, travel, accommodation,
customs, exhibitions, conferences and activities, restaurants, management and service, and
recreation. On basic role in the process of tourism, and the role of various language of hospitality
company is completed. Leaders of the international organization in the field of travel and
sightseeing, the World Tourism Organization, it gives the UN and the central and decisive role in

promoting sustainable development of environment, responsibility, and to travel (generally
understood, everyone), the aim is to promote the economic development, international
understanding and peace, prosperity and universal respect and obey, human rights and basic
freedoms. In order to realize the organization of the developing countries benefit of this goal. In
the beginning of the new century, tourism is established as the first industry in many countries,
the fastest-growing economy of foreign exchange income and created job opportunities. The
international tourism group is the world's largest export earner and important factor for most of
the national balance. Tourism has become the world's most significant basis of jobs. It can rouse
the huge investment in infrastructure, mostly to improve the living environment of the locals and
tourists. It provides the government any substantial tax. Most of the new business and tourism
work was created in developing countries, economic opportunities to help balance, keep rural
residents from moving to the crowded city. Foster intercultural consciousness and personal
friendship travel is a powerful force to improve international understanding and peace in the
world, among the nations. The world tourism organization encouraged governments, partnership
with the confidential division, local authorities and non-governmental organizations play an
important role in tourism. Tourism has become more and more popular. The government to pay
attention to tourism and it can introduce their country, city, towns. It is a good chance and it has a
commercial opportunities.
Nowadays, tourism not only travels. It has a contact with so many things, such as
lodging, transportation and so on. The WTO helps countries around the world, and to make the
most of the positive impact on tourism and reduce its negative consequences for environment
and society may. Tourism is the largest industry in the world. It provides the greatest global
employment prospects. Visitors to the capital of new economy brought travel, this kind of
Hospitality management|8
influence beyond the original expenditure. When a tourist spends money to travel, to stay in a
hotel or the money is in the restaurant business cycle by those who buy more goods, thus further
use the money. In addition, employees are the commercial service of tourists to spend more
money on locally different proportions of goods and services. The chain reactions, the so-called
multiplier effect, continue until there is a leak, means to say money is used to buy some of the
area from abroad. A travel agent is a middleperson who acts as a travel counselor and sells on
behalf of airlines, cruise lines, rail and bus transportation, hotels, and auto rental companies. A
middleperson who
is travel as a tourist consultants and sales representatives of aviation,
railways, bus cruise company, transportation, hotel and a car rental company. Agent may sell a
single part of the overall system or a few elements, such as air, tickets. The trustee is a broker,
customers, and suppliers. A quick access to the schedule, ticket, suggests customer different
destinations. (2008). Tourism will not only provide additional income for all types of enterprises
in the industry. It also provides potential employees and entrepreneurs to increase opportunities.
Tourism will offer more and more chance to the young people. So tourism will be a good
job in the future. The agency will arrange all the things to you and it bring a lot of career
opportunity to people.
Casino
It is has few of reason can prove why people go to casinos and gamble. It is just people
want to find exciting and fun and the most important is gamble likes a challenge. Most of people
want to won, not only the money, maybe it is a proud.
The casino has a long history. Nowadays more and more countries support to open a
casino. It can make so much money. Walker, D.M. in his book The Economics of casino
gambling, claimed that Casino gambling has become a popular form of entertainment. (2007)
Hospitality management|9
Nowadays more and more people like to play. They think going to the casino is a relax way.
Morse, E. A. & Goss, E. P. in their book Casino gambling in America, said that game has a long
and contradiction. (2007) Firstly it has a dispute. Some people think casinos shouldnt be legal.
But the government thinks casinos have effect on the economic. McGowan in his book
Government and the transformation of the gaming industry, said that more interesting aspects of
the proliferation of lottery activity is that these tickets are from national institutions. They are not
only recognized by the country, but also by the state government. (2001) It is strange. Obviously,
government supports it. Herrmann, D. V. in his book Resorting to casinos the Mississippi
gambling industry, described that the new association managers and political elite, casinos have
changed the white land, but it is not only the economic, social and political landscape. (2006)
with the development of society there will open more and more casinos. And people can play
have fun in it. Collins, P. in his book Gambling and the public interest, claimed that however,
from the huge income and the growth of the industry, not all go to the shareholders of the
company and employees provide commercial gambling services. (2003). It is the government.
The most of the tax is rooted in the casino. Walker research that every year about 70 billons in
gamble. The trade includes casinos, the lottery, horse ra ces, etc. And has 445 casinos in 11states.
(2008). So the gaming industry pays billions of dollars per year in gambling. It is a huge number
and the casino develops very fast. Most of the casino has profit very well.
In this world have a lot of famous casino places. Las Vegas, it is mans dream. They want
to go there and go to the casino to play. The key isnt earning money. They want to feel that
mood. It attracts so many people to try his luck. Unfortunately, you will be poor. Luckily you
will be rich. So if you have a chance to go there. Dont forget to try your luck.

Hospitality is easy to know and it is includes so many things. Hotels offer food and
accommodations and needs a lot of hotels. Recently Shanghai has built thousands of hotels for
visitors to live, they have already prepared it. Tourism is contact with hotel, if your country is
beautiful and has so many places of historical interest and it can attract a large number of people
to visit. Not only the economy will be increased but also the hotel business will be raised. Casino
is the chance to develop it, in some developing countries, the casino isnt very popular. The
government has rules, it isnt legal. But with the society, I think casino will be popular in their
country. It can earn money and makes people happy, it is also a good place to let people to relax.
The three parts of hospitality is significant. They are contact with each other and it can bring a
huge effect on economy. The service is very important, if you supply the perfect service and
make people 100% satisfied, you will be successful. You must do a lot of work and learn how to
communicate with people, how to offer suitable service to different people. To sum up,
hospitality is fantastic and I will choose hospitality to become my major. Maybe you will meet
me in some hotel or travel agency or casino.
