Possibleweaknesswouldbetheshortperiodoftimeusedtoconductthis experiment.Theinterventionconsistedoftwoschoolperiodsforatotalof90 minutes.Alongertermwouldhavebeenmoreeffectiveastherewasathird questionnairethreemonthspostintervention.Thetimedifferencebetweenthe durationoftheinterventionandthepostinterventionwassubstantiallydifferent. Thepresentstudyhadafewlimitations.Iwasunabletodifferentiatewhetherthe combinedcognitiveandbehaviouralexperimentwaseffectivebecauseofthe combinationofthetwo,orbecauseofthebehaviouralexperimentwherethe participantshadpersonalinteractionswiththedisabled.Afourthgroupofjust behaviouralinterventionwouldbebetterasitwouldascertainifitwasthemain criticalpartinreducingnegativeattitudestowardthephysicallydisabled.Since onlythebehaviourinterventionactuallymetthedisabledathletes,itis impossibletosaywhetheritwasthepersonalencounterorthedirectbehavioural experiencethataccountedforthegreatereffectivenessofthisintervention element.(Krahe,B.,&Altwesser,C.2006p.8)Duetotheseweaknessesthereis noclearvariablewhichdeterminedthereductionofnegativeattitudestowards disabilities.Therearenoflawsintheconclusionasitonlystatestheresultofthe combinedcognitiveandbehaviourintervention.Thisexperimentcanbeimproved inthefutureifitincludingthefourthgroup,behaviourintervention.Overallthis studyshowsthatitspossibletochangethenegativeattitudestowardshandicap inaninterventionintegratedintoaschoolsetting.Presentfindingindicatethat thiscanbeachievedbyaninterventioncombiningcognitiveinformationwith personalcontactswithdisabledpeopleandfirsthandroletakingexperienceof animpairmentcausedbydifferentformsofphysicaldisability(Krahe,B.,& Altwesser,C.2006p910) 6) Severalyearsagomyclosefriendtornhisankleligament,andwhenIhavethe timeIwouldassisthimtotraveltodestinationshewantstogo.Butnomatter wherewetravel,peopletendtostareatus.ThereforeitmademyfriendandI veryuncomfortable.Sincethatdaytheseissueshasbeenapersonalmatterto me.WhenIsawthisstudyinthearticlesgiventous,Iknewthisisthearticlefor me.Overall,theseyearsmyviewonthisissuehasbeenmorepositiveregarding theattitudestowardsthephysicallydisable.
