Applying Fully a Decision-Making Framework Fully Applying a Decision Making-Framework Chrissy J Weeks University of Phoenix ACC/260 Tonia Walker March 18 2012 1 Fully Applying a Decision-Making Framework While working on this assignment we are required to evaluate the ethic dilemma in this case. Albert is a CPA in this case, and many factors will need to be evaluated. While evaluating we will describe the dilemma, what events led to the dilemma, and a possible solution. The stakeholder involved would be the loan officer for the bank. The other stakeholder I believe would be the Ms. Wilson. This case has several dilemmas that affected each stakeholder. With Mr. Gables profession as a CPA, the Wilsons came to him to prepare a financial plan. Meanwhile Mr. Gable was asked to do periodic audits on random accounts for the bank. Much to his surprise the Wilsons account was pulled. He was told personal information from the Wilsons when they came to him to do the financial plan. Mr. Gable advised the loan officer for the bank that the information that he knew and what he has reviewed does not make sense. The loan officer advised Mr. Gable that he believed that Mr. Wilson was getting his financials in line to leave his wife with not even a penny to her name. Of course the loan officer told Mr. Gable that was just his thought with no proof therefore, it was best to keep it quite. The loan officer called it the locker room ethics. Basically anything said cannot be proved. The dilemma for Mr. Gable is that should he say something after what he has seen or should he keep quite. He is because of the personal issue, knowing that he has to pay for his daughters tuition. The account from the Wilsons will help him out a lot. However, keeping quite is it the right thing to do. Personally, I believe that the Wilsons do need to be told. Keeping quiet would be unethical. The course of action that Mr. Gable should take would be to advise the Wilsons after having been asked by the bank that to come and do audits. The bank randomly picked their account to audit. After the information was reviewed, the Wilsons saw that something did not match. At that point I would advise the Wilsons about the inconsistencies he that found while 2 Fully Applying a Decision-Making Framework auditing the account. At that point it would let them know that he found something wrong. This also is protecting Ms. Wilsons best interest along with the bank interest. Even though Mr. Gable had a reason to keep the account, the best thing would be to be honest and tell the Wilsons even if it meant losing the account. By telling them is keeping the bank interest involved along with keeping Ms. Wilson interest. Even thought the loan officer told him that he suspected that Mr. Wilson was planning something while doing the audit what he was told did not match. This is why I would advise the Wilsons of what I found while auditing their account. By doing it this way Mr. Gable is being unbiased and earning their trust by being honest. They might not like what he found, but they will know that he is professional. The effects on Mr. Gable decision I do not feel will affect the bank or the loan officer. The loan officer did ask Mr. Gable to audit the account. This was a random pick. Even with Mr. Gable speaking to the loan office the way Mr. Gable approached the Wilsons will not be anything that could affect the bank. Unfortunately the impact on Ms. Wilson could vary. However, by Mr. Gable telling the Wilsons what he found, would give her a fighting chance. The evidence is what he found while auditing the account after what he was told from them while working on the financial plan. By the Wilsons hiring Mr. Gable to do the financial planner gave him the insight to know that something was not right. The answer to this is in the right section. Putting somewhere else would mess the layout of the paper. While working on this assignment we evaluated the ethic dilemma in this case. Albert is a CPA in this case, and many factors were needed to be evaluating the case. While evaluating we described the dilemma, what events led to the dilemma, and a possible solution. 3 Fully Applying a Decision-Making Framework References Brooks, L. (2009).
