As a student writer and editor with Course Hero’s Student Voices UC Berkeley chapter, I was already aware of our company’s deep commitment to the students and educators it serves. But the 2018 Education Summit illustrated just how much this company truly cares about its mission.
Upon arriving at Course Hero’s offices, summit attendees were greeted by enthusiastic employees and welcome speeches. It was clear that this year’s Education Summit was bigger than ever before—I was honored to be part of such an amazing success!
While the educators had their own agendas, packed with workshops and office hours, the Course Hero student writers (myself included) were lucky enough to participate in workshops tailored to our writing program. We tried out fun takes on brainstorming activities and received helpful blog tips from Course Hero employees. Another workshop highlight was tapping into our literary creativity by choosing a fictional character whose personality represented our universities.
Between these gatherings was a Q&A session with Course Hero’s cofounder and CEO. This session aligned perfectly with the tone of the summit: informative, engaging, and keen on innovation. I particularly enjoyed hearing about Course Hero’s vision for the future, which will help college students like myself graduate prepared for what’s next in our lives.
As I was leaving the office late in the afternoon, it felt like the Education Summit was only just beginning. Coworkers relayed that the rest of the day brought a panel of innovative educators and even a speech from UC Berkeley favorite Robert Reich. Both Reich and Sir Ken Robinson received standing ovations from the Education Summit attendees and left a clear theme: Education is fundamental to society, and it is crucial to ensure that everyone has equal access to the right learning materials.
