Virtual Tours and Mindsets and BehaviorsWhen reviewing through the virtual tours on our initial discussion board, Hope Academyand Alpha Omega Academy (AOA) stood out the most. Hope Academy is a private Christianschool in Minneapolis, Minnesota (Maupin, 2022). Their mission is to equalize opportunities forurban youth, currently serving about 550 students in grades K-12. Hope Academies foundationis based on four core values: Redemption, Relationships, Radical Dependence, and Remarkable.These core values are the foundation of the success that their students achieve. Alpha OmegaAcademy is a private online Christian based school with 3,350 students enrolled (AOA, 2021).Alpha Omega Academy students have the flexibility to balance a busy lifestyle while stillpursuing academics and spirituality. Both schools meet students’ needs in different ways gearedtowards the students enrolled.ASCA Mindset standards are related to the attitudes or beliefs students have aboutthemselves in relation to academic work (ASCA, 2019). School counselors are to encourage thesix Mindset standards. Based on the information from the videos and websites, both HopeAcademy and Alpha Omega Academy encourage the development of the student as a whole,developing self-confidence in the ability to succeed, developing a sense of belonging, theimportance of education, striving for high-quality results, and developing a positive attitudetowards work and learning.
