Course Hero regularly provides scholarship opportunities for motivated individual students. So it seemed natural to support motivated student groups as well, especially in their efforts to join in philanthropy at national and global levels.
Since 2010, Course Hero has partnered with Books for Africa for our Knowledge Drive, for which we donate one book to a child abroad for every 10 documents uploaded to our site. Our donations, facilitated by the support, dedication, and generosity of our student community, made us the top donor in the 1 Million Books for Gambia project by 2016 and have resulted in 260,318 books given to the organization to date. We are proud of this accomplishment, and it’s inspired us to grow our giving program.

Start hereIntroducing our new initiative
Expanding on the idea of uploads for a good cause, Course Hero has launched a new giving initiative. We will now partner with student organizations to donate $200 to select philanthropies for every 100 documents the groups upload. On top of that, we will donate to a cause of their choice.
These upload-athons will create a place where students like you can study and upload original class notes and documents (supporting other students’ learning) while raising money for a cause you believe in.
Once the group’s documents have been accepted, the participants can choose where Course Hero will direct a $200 donation. Most groups select a local organization close to their hearts:

UC Berkeley Own It
UC Berkeley’s Own It chapter hosted a Course Hero–partnered event and the donation went toward Own It’s mission of helping women attain leadership positions.
Indiana U Tex’s BBQ

UC Irvine Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches

At UC Irvine, the Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches donation went toward recruiting compatible blood donors for Asian-American and multiracial patients waiting for a stem cell or bone marrow transplant.

Since the launch of this project last September, Course Hero has already donated $40,000 to student-selected philanthropies, and we’ve just begun.
