NOTE: The number of equations determines the number of basic variables. 1. The objective Function variable is always selected as a basic variable. 2. A variable can only be selected as a basic variable only if it corresponds to a column in the tableau the has exactly one nonzero element (usually 1), and the nonzero element in the column is not in the same row as the nonzero element of another basic variable. 3. The remaining variables are nonbasic variables.
