Week 2 - Assignment 2 Strategy Card Game Design, GRATIS and Single Player Playtesting Bluff By Damian Iwanowiec A All vs All Card Game for 2-4 Players Ages 16+ Game Description: Players start with a hand of ten cards, their goal is to pick up new cards from a deck, or from their opponents, until all ten of their cards share the theme they chose (colour, suit, or all numbers from one to ten). Every four rounds, players can attempt to guess what theme a person has. If someone correctly guesses your theme, you lose! If the guess is incorrect, the player who guessed must show five of their cards. The first person to obtain ten cards of their theme, or to be the last one standing wins!
GRATIS Outline Goals Short term goal is to pick up/put down cards of your chosen theme without exposing your theme to your opponents. Mid-term goal is to study the cards your opponents put down to attempt to discern what their theme is by the guess round (if you choose to guess on the guess round). End goal is to collect ten cards of your chosen theme or eliminate all your opponents. Rules A deck of cards is shuffled by a volunteer, the volunteer then deals eleven cards (all backside up) to each player The first ten cards shuffled will be used in the match, the eleventh card is flipped by all players, the highest cards go before the lower cards (if multiple players get the same card, the duplicate cards are confiscated and new cards are issued to the players who had them) These are the actions I can take when it is my turn. Action 1 Place down one of the cards from my deck and pick up a new card from the stack. My opponents get to see the card I placed down and can gather information on what cards I am aiming for based off the ones I got rid of Action 2 Place down one of the cards from my deck and pick up a card that was placed down in front of an opponent. My opponents get to see one of the cards that will be added to my deck and can use this information to get a better idea of what my theme is. After I play an action, I can choose to bluff/lie to my opponents about the card I got to attempt to throw them off the trail of my theme. A player wins when they are the last one standing, or they have obtained ten cards of their theme. A player must always put down a card, but they get a choice in where they pick up their next card. Players must choose a theme upon first receiving their deck of cards and cannot change said theme for the remainder of the game. When picking up cards, players cannot pick up from their own set of placed cards. Once you place a card down, you cannot touch it for the remainder of the match unless it was picked up and played by and opponent. Players do not have to participate in a guess round if they feel they do not have enough information to make a proper guess.
