2PICOT Question PaperClinical ProblemDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, many have given adequate recognition on howchallenging the nursing profession can be. However, understanding the emotional and physicalstress is crucial for nurses to combat and build up coping mechanisms before causing nurseburnout or mental disengagement. Burnout is widespread and characterized by a reduction innurse’s energy, manifesting emotional exhaustion, lack of motivation, and feelings of frustration,leading to a decrease in work efficacy (Jose et al., 2020). Burnout is defined by three dimensions:emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and personal inefficacy (Jose et al., 2020). Nursing shortagesand nursing turnover is the most prevalent issue affecting the healthcare industry. High nursingturnover is a huge concern for healthcare organizations across the nation. Nursing turnover iscostly due to the expenses associated with the recruitment and training of new nurses. This issueshould be addressed for budgetary concern and the benefit of the care provided to patients withinour communities. This paper aims to identify reasons for nurse burnout and nursing turnover bycreating interventions for a proposal to promote positive change and retaining nurses throughcreating a PICOT Question and how this will impact patient care and the healthcare organization.PICOT StatementPICOT Question: Would the continuance of education for staff, routine visits from thebehavioral health counselor, adequate staff support, and appropriate float pool staffing decreasenurse burnout, thereby retaining current staff?
