Grade Level: High school or middle school Goals: The students will… 1. Research an artist or artists of their choice 2. Create their own interpretation of the artwork 3. Learn to use food as a sculptural medium 4. Learn about the career option of being a Garde Manger chef 5. Learn proper use of cutting knives and safety Student Performance Objectives: Goal 1 : Creative Expression and Communication Benchmark A: The student will demonstrate a mastery of materials, concepts and personal concentration when creating an original artwork out of food based upon a famous work. Goal 2: Creative Expression and Communication Benchmark B: The student will create an expressive sculpture demonstrating a sense of purpose and understanding of the relationships between the form, materials, techniques and subject matter.
