Re: Topic 5 DQ 1 Nursing research requires thorough and accurate to yield reliable and evidence-based practices. As such, blending both quantitative and qualitative methods is critical to obtaining reliable and valid results. Using both methods fortifies the researcher and enhances its quality. The two approaches are different though using them together erases each method's weaknesses since they complement each other. The quantitative method involves using statistical facts and figures which are easy to record and analyze. However, the quantitative method cannot be used to study or explain a social phenomenon. The method's weakness is covered by using it together with the qualitative approach, which is suitable for studying social phenomena (McKim, 2017). Furthermore, the qualitative approach makes it possible to obtain more in-depth information that cannot be gotten by using the quantitative method only. Nursing research that employs both methods is reliable and valid. Using both methods has advantages and disadvantages, but the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. References
