famous author, C.S Lewis, says that, “Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provide; and in this respect, it irrigates the desert that our lives have already become.” By definition, literature is a collection of written or spoken works, but most commonly known and accepted as collection of writing or written works. It comes from theLatinword, littera, which means “a letter of the alphabet.” According to Goethe in the discussion, literature exhibits strong affective affinities, works that speaks love, death, happiness and exultation, lost youth, the banality of existence etc. Wiliam Faulkner said in his speech that he must always write about “old verities” which are the “truths of the heart, the old universal truths lacking which any story is ephemeral and doomed, love and honor, pity and pride and compassion and sacrifice.” These are usually the things that people experience, see, and feel.
