(2014). Adult Development and Aging: Biopsychosocial Perspectives . Fifth Edition. New York: John Wiley & Sons. Course Description: This course is designed to provide a broad overview of adult development and aging. Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to: 1. Demonstrate knowledge of trends, theories, and perspectives on the process of aging. 2. Understand recent research in all stages of adult development from both the genetic and environmental perspectives. 3. Understand and appreciate the fundamental issues and topics that pertain to the aging process and growing older in today's society. 4. Recognize various research methods and designs used for collecting and analyzing data across the life span. Attendance: Students are expected to attend class meetings. Topics in this course are interrelated and each session will build upon the work of previous sessions. Course material will be taken mainly from the assigned text, but also from outside materials covered in class by lecture, video presentations, or guest lecturers. Students should read the assigned material from the text before attending the class for which the material will be discussed.
