2 Clinical Field Experience A: Social Studies Observation Part 1: Observation Grade Level: 4th Grade Description of Social Studies Lesson: For this lesson, students explored the events that women had to go through in the late-1940s to the year 1920. Students also learned the importance of citizens having the right to vote, both males and females. I had students work on a reading comprehension worksheet that explains what women's suffrage was, how it occurred, and the solution to end such a terrible event. For the next activity, I had students do independent work. They had to create their own poster and design a slogan and express their beliefs on women’s suffrage. They need to pretend that they are part of an organization who advocates for women’s rights. Students who finished early had the permission to access the classroom’s laptops to do research on women suffrage and look up some pictures. Describe the environment: Warm and inviting? Cold and strict?
