READING REFLECTION 11 2 Reading Reflection 11 Questions 1 and 2 In my opinion, classroom management pertains to the way you control your classroom and the methods you have set up to deal with and reduce conflicts with students. Classroom management is so important because it is all that stands between a successful lesson and complete chaos. It is very necessary to create a plan for how to keep the classroom under control and optimize learning prior to the first day of class so that you can begin utilizing your ideas as soon as your first group of students walk in the door. This is crucial because it is difficult to change or add rules throughout the school year without coming across as inconsistent and making your students feel uncomfortable and therefore less responsive to learning (Slavin, 2018). One of the best ways to do this as a new teacher is to ask for advice from other, more experienced educators. Whether this comes from a teaching class, a book, some instructional YouTube videos, or simply asking fellow teachers what they do, learning about the classroom management ideas of other teachers will help yours. After doing this, you can take some of your favorite rules and ideas and adapt them to fit your own teaching style and classroom.
